Courage

This was a practice session. I needed to learn how to bodypaint in black and white. Chelsa volunteered at the request of the photographer. We had seen each other in mutual friend circles but had never really had a chance to talk before this shoot. I never intend to “heal” people in my sessions. My focus was on practice. Regardless I do energy work while painting. In my sessions I always make sure the person I am painting understands that it is emotional safe space. If they feel like crying, don’t hold it back or in. If they feel like laughing, the same thing. It is true for myself and the person I’m painting. During our painting session Chelsa let some things out that she didn’t even realize were bothering her. We laughed and cried with each other. It takes a great deal of courage to be naked physically, but it also takes and equal amount to be be vulnerable emotionally too. It can be a very cathartic and healing experience.
